Dr. Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services at the UCLA School of Public Health and has a strong research background in organizational and system analysis, particularly as it pertains to primary care delivery, HIV/STD screening and treatment, and health care disparities. He is an experienced health services researcher with methodological expertise in survey research, the analysis of large datasets and multilevel statistical methods. Since 2006, over fifteen of Dr. Rodriguez’s first-authored studies have been published or accepted for publication in prominent peer-reviewed journals.

From 1997-2003, Dr. Rodriguez served as a management consultant for The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) where he was responsible for the implementation and evaluation of large-scale strategic projects including the integration of advanced practice clinicians onto primary care teams at several Kaiser Permanente medical centers across northern California and the transition of the appointment-booking and medical advice functions from medical offices into regional appointment and advice call centers. Moreover, during his tenure at TPMG, he authored and provided consultation to a regional project promoting care coordination and interorganizational collaboration with local community health centers.

His current research, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, focuses on understanding the extent to which systematic survey reporting biases by ethnic minorities affect the profiling of individual physicians on patient experience measures. In terms of public health systems research, his current research focuses on understanding how the organizational structure and arrangements of local health departments influence the surveillance and control of sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Rodriguez received his PhD in Health Policy from Harvard University, MPH in Health Administration from UC Berkeley, and BA in Urban Studies and Planning from UC San Diego.
